Basic knowledge of MS Windows and Internet is assumed.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The objective of the course is to enhance students’ knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint using practical examples. After completing the course students will be able to use these applications on a more advanced user level.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student will be able to:
- orientate in the information system,
- use basic functions, formulas and graphs in MS Excel,
- analyze and interpret data, use pivot table,
- copy objects between MS Office applications,
- create presentations in MS PowerPoint.
Syllabus
  • 1. Principles of work in the computer classroom, in the local network of VSFS, working with the school’s information system.
    2. MS Excel – Common uses of Excel, data formats, simple formulas.
    3. MS Excel - Functions I (mathematical, statistical).
    4. MS Excel – Functions II (financial, search).
    5. MS Excel – Graphs.
    6. MS Excel - Pivot tables.
    7. MS Excel – Data interpretation.
    8. MS Excel – Databases.
    9. MS Excel - Large tables printing.
    10. MS PowerPoint – Creating a presentation.
    11. MS PowerPoint – Animation in MS PowerPoint.
    12. MS PowerPoint - Copying object between MS Office applications.

Teaching methods
Seminars in full-time study, tutorials in part-time study, compulsory seminar participation is 75 % in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50 % in part-time study.
Students with ISP have the same duties. Compulsory attendance is not required.The teacher verifies the authenticity of the submitted tasks.
Assessment methods
The course is completed with a credit.
Full-time study: Students solve 11 tasks in seminars and submit them into IS VSFŠ for verification. Credit will be given for correctly solved tasks from seminars.
Part-time study: Students solve 11 tasks and submit them into IS VŠFS for verification (they complete part of the tasks at home). The teacher verifies the authenticity of the submitted tasks.
Students with ISP have the same duties. Compulsory attendance is not required. The teacher verifies the authenticity of the submitted tasks.
