Course objectives
The main aim is to acquaint students with specifics of FI in management, economics and regulation and supervision. The main goal is to explain the trends in the development of financial services, to explain the general principles of business management in the financial markets and to evaluate their performance.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to explain what are the specifics of the financial market and its subjects, which are influenced by the central bank's regulation of financial institutions' business activities and what are the impacts of the regulation on the FI activity, in particular from the financial point of view, while being able to understand the principles of financial institution management.
Syllabus
  • Basic topics: 1. Introduction to the financial market, financial services and trends in their development, financial institution - the types and characteristics 2. Organization of financial institutions, branches, the main departments in the bank 3. Internal environment of financial institutions, bank balance, performance evaluation, management models 4. Selected indicators of financial analysis, process model, 5. Management of Financial Institutions, reporting, management accounting, introduction to basic evaluation methods, 6. Audit 7. Characteristics of Marketing in financial institutions, management of product and distribution channels, customer relationship management in financial services 8. Management of assets and liabilities, types and risk management 9. Regulation and Supervision of financial institutions, the obligation for financial institutions, financial market characteristics in terms of regulation and supervision, the importance of banking license - insurace companies 10. The Investment Firm as one of the most important actors in the financial market, the specifics of the business of CP 11. Collective investment as the basic way of using the available resources of small investors, investment funds, their types and characteristics; investment broker, tied representative 12. Teaching methods
Teaching takes the form / lectures / seminars / workshops / full-time study / group consultations and managed in the form of study. Minimum mandatory attendance at seminars / workshops in full-time studies is 75 %, at group consultations in combined form is 50 %. Students who fail to meet the mandatory level of participation may be given during the semester additional study obligations (to the extent that will demonstrate academic achievement and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of course).
Assessment methods
To obtain the credit processing essay on an assigned topic within the range of 3-4 pages and presentation of the conclusions of the work, meet attendance at seminars (in full-time study) / guided consultations (for combined studies), and passing a written test at the end of the semester at least 60 %. Students who fail to meet these requirements for credit, may receive a substitute teacher assignments. After obtaining credit is the subject ends with an oral exam.
