Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
At the end of the course students will be able understand the nature of securities markets and explain activities of "investment banks" on mentioned markets. Students receive knowledge of prices market creation (e.g. stock market prices, yield to maturities, exchange rates,...). Studends will be able to receive and analyze information availaible from public financial markets also.
Learning outcomes
Basic knowledge of securities terminology - stocks (shares), bond and basis operation of investment banking - issue securities.
Syllabus
  • The all course consists 12 classes (incl lectures and seminars). Studied subjects are: 1) Investment banks, commercial banks, collective investment institution and financial markets. 2) Investment services 3) Securities - securites which confirms property (stocks) 4) Securities - debt securities (bonds) 5) Securities - derivatives I (forward and futures) 6) Securities - derivatives II (options, swaps) 7) Stock market price information - exchange rates (stock prices), stock market indices 8) Investment - yield (return), risk, liquidity, efficient markets. 9) Investment - technical analysis (basic theories - Dow theory, Elliot waves, Fibonacci studies) 10) Investment - technical analysis (charting, patterns, support and resistance levels, technical indicators) 11) Investment - fundamental analysis (corporate analysis - intrinsic value, dividend discount models, earnings models, cash flow models, combined models, historical models) 12) Investment - global and sector fundamental analysis. In every lectures is descibed services provided by investment banks in process of issue and trading securities. Seminars: Teacher gives students various topics and selected students will this topics presented in oral and written form. Written seminar work is necessary condition for successful passing of final exam.

Teaching methods
Teaching is provided via lectures and classes (seminars) for full-time students and via lectures for part-time students.
Assessment methods
Written seminar work, final written exam, and final oral exam (follow up final written exam). The minimum participation in exercises in full-time students 75 % and distance students 50 %.
