Course objectives
The aim of the course Commercial Banking is to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the so-called commercial banking products such as credit and deposit products for banks and credit unions, or other products that may also provide non-banks. The main objective is to understand explanation of the meaning and nature of these products. The operational goal is to explain the importance of prudent business of commercial banking and the importance of the Czech National Bank and the Czech Trade Inspection in it. The aim of the exercise is a simulation of practical approaches in the actual offering and providing the products with the requirement for independent student work.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to: - explain the difference between investment and commercial banking - to explain the breakdown in terms of banking products by different criteria - to characterize active and passive banking business, - to characterize the fundamentally neutral banking conditions, - to apply the procedures for the provision of basic commercial banking products, - to explain the so-called alternative forms of client financing, - to explain bank licensing by the supervisory and supervisory authority, - to characterize the links with the Czech Republic's EU membership to the banking sector.
Syllabus
  • First Introduction, systematization of commercial banking products , who can provide a characterization of the relevant bodies. Second Fundamentals of payment as banks neutral product , systematization products of payments, payment instruments and their classification, practical importance of payments. 3rd Deposit products (passive products ) , characteristics , classification, meaning their providers , the benefits for the parties to a trade , terms , principles, interest, fees . 4th Time deposits, savings accounts, passbook, deposit and other certificates, explain the nature of each type of product, deposit insurance, examples of good practice. 5th Loan products, loan distribution and characteristics of individual types of loans, loan agreement , interest bearing loans and setting interest rates , loan maturity . 6th Implementation of credit in general - asking for a loan , credit analysis, assessment of the client's ability to repay the loan , verification of the client's situation , financial analysis, credit agreement is concluded , overseeing credit conditions. Examples of good practice. 7th Mortgage loan is a special type of home loan, characteristics and nature. Mortgage bonds and bond to mortgage loans. 8th Consumer credit conditions, the loan agreement, the rights and obligations of the parties in the implementation of consumer credit. 9th Securing the loan , the nature and function , forms and methods of reinsurance - insurance , bill suretyship , bank guarantee , debt assumption and accession to the liability , penalty , an agreement on wage deductions , pledge , lien , assignment of claims , reinsurance transfer. 10th Products savings, nature of the product , stages savings, the concept of State aid by building a savings target amount , the minimum time savings, building savings loan , bridging loan. 11th Alternative forms of financing - factoring commodity , financial factoring , functions factoring, factoring the progress of the case , the maturity of debt , a factor factoring company , forfaiting and forfaiting progress of the case; importance of factoring and forfaiting. Project financing and its essence. 12th Prudent business in commercial banking - internal audit, internal control, competence CNB and CTI in this area.

Teaching methods
Teaching takes the form / lectures / seminars / workshops / full-time study / group consultations and managed in the form of study. Minimum mandatory attendance at seminars / workshops in full-time studies is 75%, the controlled group consultations in combined form 50%. Students who fail to meet the mandatory level of participation may be given during the semester additional study obligations (to the extent that will demonstrate academic achievement and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of course).
Assessment methods
he full-time study: For Credit: Semester report on a given subject lecturers / students the range in   min. 3-6 pages or preparing a presentation on teacher assigned topic. Is expected to actively participate in exercises involving   participation in facilitated discussions. Attendance at seminars is compulsory. Also successfully pass a written test before the test at least 60%. Students who do not meet the požadakvy for credit, they may receive a substitute teacher assignments.   In the combined form of study: For assessment: Written elaboration of responses to the questions   methodological sheets and attendance at the special consultations in the range of at least   75%. For both forms of study subject after obtaining the credit concluded with an oral exam. Students will be drawn two questions from a set of questions relating to the topic being discussed subject.
