Course objectives
Students will be introduced into the actual issue of management culture, managment ethics and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Characterize the position and role of managers, explain the importance of managerial ethics. Explain the importance of corporate social responsibility. Analyze the specificities of national and corporate culture of multinational organizations, global processes.
Learning outcomes
Students that accomplish the course successfully will be:
1. well acquainted with the basic elements of all three topics, e.g. definitions and building blocks of organization culture, typology of companies etc.
2. able to explain connection between company culture and company strategy, relationship between moral and ethics, to identify key issues of CSR.
3. able to give arguments in favour of the implementation of ethical and socially responsible behaviour of companies, to pinpoint eventual barriers in this field.
4. able to implement changes of management culture, to create an ethical codex and evaluate CSR.
5. able to apply the latest approach to management culture, ethics and CSR.
Syllabus
  • 1. Organization culture. Definition of culture, organization culture, elements and structure of organization culture - Schein`s model.
  • 2. Organization culture. Content,influence and sources of organization culture. Creation and development of organization culture. Organization culture and stratégy. Organization culture and efficiency.
  • 3. Typology of organization culture. Organization culture typology in relation to organizational structure. Typology in relation to external influences.
  • 4. Typology of organization culture (2nd part). Typology in relation to the development phase of an organization. Typology in relation to company behaviour.
  • 5. Creation and change of management culture. Types nad models of changes of the organization culture. Analysis of organization culture as a starting point for its chase.
  • 6. Creation and change of management culture (2nd part). Implementation and evaluation of change of organization culture. Tools of change of organization culture. Role of management in creation and change of organization culture.
  • 7. Enterpreneurial ethics in market economy. Characteristics and development of enterpreneurial ethics. Reasons to study enterpreneurial ethics. Situation in the Czech Republic, differences in approach between Europea and USA. Economic reasons for fulfillment of enterpreneurial ethics in market economy.
  • 8. Ethical values in economical practice. Characteristics of moral. Ethics, relation between moral and ethics.
  • 9. Principles, tools and methods of ethical management. Tools and principles of ethical management. Ethical codex.
  • 10. Management Ethics. Ethical management – profit from the perspective of ethics. Management ethics and its implementation (moral – erudition – implementation). Ethical leadership.
  • 11. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Develompent, definition, characteristics. Fields of CSR. Pros and cons of CSR
  • 12. Related concepts and terms to CSR. Sustainable development, Company Citizenship, Company Philantropy. European Union and CSR, CSR in the Czech Republic. Implemenation of CSR into the company practice.

Teaching methods
Lectures, excercises and case studies for daily students, lectures and practical examples for the combined students. Lectures will be based on PPT presentation on individual topics by the lecturer followed by a discussion.
Assessment methods
Subject is completed by receiving credit. The criterion is the successful completion of a written test.
