Prerequisites
Comprehensive knowledge of students in the field of public administration management acquired by completing the study subject Management in Public Administration, as well as experience from work in public administration offices is assumed.

The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Following the completion of the study subject Management in Public Administration, the students' knowledge will be extended especially by the acquisition of specific managerial approaches and methods used mainly in the management of municipalities and regions. Students will be acquainted in detail with the activities related to the provision of public and public benefit services and the implementation of leadership principles.
Learning outcomes
Audience - get acquainted in more detail with the specific features of the performance of public administration, especially European states, which in public administration have long preferred the application of managerial principles; - be better acquainted with the legal aspects of management activities developed within the European legal and European administrative area; - understand the essential features of the so-called management carried out in contemporary European public administration; - get acquainted with the principles of sustainable development of municipalities, cities and regions; - learn the principles of quality management and understand the ways of their application in specific municipalities, cities and regions; - acquire new approaches in the application of the principles of personnel management
Syllabus
  • 1. More detailed knowledge about specific managerial approaches applied today on the European continent in the management of municipalities, cities and regions 2. Legal aspects of the above-mentioned contemporary management activities 3. The relationship between the consistent application of the principles of the Public Management concept and their implementation in the management of municipalities, cities and regions; 4. Essential elements of the so-called "management" process and their application in the conditions of territorial self-government management 5.Procedures and methods used in the current management of municipalities, cities and regions clarified in a more general form 6.Examples of the most proven approaches in the management of contemporary European public administration 7.Application of specific managerial approaches in the implementation of the principles of sustainable development of municipalities, cities and regions 8. Principles of leadership and their use in the management of local government 9. The most proven styles and methods of leadership usable in municipalities, cities and regions 10. Quality management and the use of its principles in the management of local government entities 11. Experience from the effective provision of public and public benefit services in cities and other municipalities 12. New approaches in personnel management applied in contemporary management of municipalities, cities and regions

Teaching methods
Lectures and presentations of examples from the specific practice of municipal authorities will be given priority in the teaching of this study subject.
Assessment methods
At the end of the course, students will receive credits and meet the exams when they meet the required criteria.
