The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
To provide students with a comprehensive overview of the Payment System and payment services incl. operators who can provide. The subject should deepen the student's knowledge Bachelor Mode of study, obtained from the subject of Banking and Commercial banking in the common base.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to: - explain the nature of payment services and payment transactions, - explain the terms of payment structure, - process a payment order for non-documentary payment transactions, - apply payment procedures in practice to banks and businesses, - apply the established procedures in cross-border and inland payments and foreign payment systems - apply Consumer Protection on Finance Market on common base
Syllabus
  • 1)Introduction to the basic concepts of payment, legislation in the Czech Republic and EU standards in this area. Explanation of the term of payment and payment services, forms of payment. 2) Cash payments as the basic payment services, deposit and withdraw cash, cash processing, subsidies and contributions, treasury services to the bank. 3) Current or payment account and its forms as a basic assumption execution of payment transactions, and payment services, the contract for the provision of payment services, account documentation, documentation of the client. 4) Non-documentary payment instruments in the country and their use - credit transfer, direct debit order, requirements - mandatory, optional; forms of processing. Variations in their provision - multiple orders, standing orders, automatic transfers, blocking funds in the account, etc. 5)The interbank payment system, forms the interbank clearing, payment systems, principles and policies, payment systems, settlement finality and their characteristics. 6) The system CERTIS, characteristics, principles, limits in the clearing, settlement adjustments initiated by the bank and the client's request. 7) Check as a specific payment instrument, characteristics, distribution checks, clearing checks, traveler's check, 8) Payment cards, classification, principles of operation, clearing operations conducted by payment cards, new possibilities for the use of payment cards (cash back, m-payment, e -payment), 9) Documentary payments and their implementation (documentary collections, letters of credit, types of documents, obligations of the parties), 10) Presupposition for the realization of foreign and cross-border payments - the difference between them, payment orders (clean payment) requirements - obligatory, optional, SWIFT system, characteristics and meaning of his use, distribution of reports, data formats 11) Project SEPA, importance, benefits and principles of implementation of the SEPA payment instruments (SDD, SCT, cards), 12) Settlement systems in the area of international payment systems, focusing on EU countries, clearing of payment instruments. Out of court disputes in selected areas of banking linked to EU requirements.

Teaching methods
The course is taught through lectures - 2 hours per week in full-time and 6 hours of consultation in the combined form of study. Tutorials are obligatory.
Assessment methods
The subject is finished by fulfilling requirements. To obtain (for both forms of study) is necessary to write credit test with the fulfillment 60% correct answers. The lectures for full-time students will be randomly checked attendance. Altogether it is necessary to have met at least 75% attendance at lectures. For the combined form are mandatory consultations with that it is possible for one of the consultations missing.
