The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course follows the course Security Theory and Security Management. It aims to understand and orient in the security policy of both European and non-European countries. The aim is to analyze and analyze in particular the security policy of the Czech Republic, including security, military and international doctrine with the intentions of the government resolution on the security strategy of the Czech Republic.
Learning outcomes
Successful passing of the exam from the subject.
Syllabus
  • 1) Introduction: security theory and security policy. Course structure. 2) Geography of security: classification of states according to security. The number of weapons among the world's population. Police density. Positive and negative state regime. Police state. 3) Classification of states according to militarization. Civil wars. Aggressive and expanding states, spheres of influence. States without an army. 4) Security policy and human rights and freedoms. Classification of states according to the degree of democracy according to the Fund for Peace, Human House and other criteria. 5) The death penalty in Czechoslovakia and in the world according to Amnesty International, and other criteria Security, legal and criminal policy. Prison density. 6) Multiculturalism and contrario universality of fundamental human rights. Legal civilization and acculturization. 7) European police rule of law - Schengen system, Schengen area and external Schengen border. Balkan, Mediterranean and Ceuta milling route. The right to asylum is the right of the second or fourth generation. 8) Bases of the security policy of the Czech Republic according to the Security Strategy of the Government of the Czech Republic. 9) Security interests of the Czech Republic according to the Security Strategy of the Czech Republic. 10) Trends of the security environment according to the Security Strategy of the Czech Republic. 11) Security system in the Czech Republic according to the Security Strategy of the Czech Republic. 12) Summary, repetition. Discussion on the current state of the security situation in the Czech Republic and Europe.

Teaching methods
Lectures and exercises in full-time form, guided group consultations in combined form; The minimum compulsory participation in seminars in the full-time form of study is 75%, in guided group consultations in the combined form of study 50%.
Assessment methods
The course ends with a credit and an oral exam. The criterion for granting the credit is to prove orientation in the literature and the structure of the subject. The criterion for passing the oral exam is the successful answering of the test questions.
