The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course is focused on practical problems that are solved by local governments in individual areas. Some problems are common to both small municipalities and statutory cities, while others vary across size categories. The course should encourage students to take a more critical view of the functioning of local governments and provide some insight into the real solution. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the practical functioning of municipalities, cities and public administration in the Czech Republic in the application of specific problems. Students should be able to better understand the functioning but also the problems of municipal self-government.
Learning outcomes
Students will gain an orientation in the tools, processes and procedures for solving partial problems in the functioning of the municipality or city administration. Students will be able to orient themselves in the system of financing municipalities, the legislative framework for the functioning of local governments and development opportunities.

Teaching methods
Teaching methods: lecture Preparation of a brief mini-presentation on a given topic: students choose the topic of a brief mini-presentation in the first tutorial, which they will present in the second part of the course, the topic will be related to current issues of public administration. The student can consult the topic with the teacher, consultations can take place via e-mail correspondence. Submission of the presentation is a condition for granting credit and registering for the paper. Passing the final test.
