The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
At the end of the course student will be able to clarify and explain the interdependence between law and ethics, the relationship of legal and ethical standards, as well as the concept of ethics in the background of marketing and interpersonal communication, particularly also in order to explain the terminology in the law that has linkage with ethics (basic human rights, personal rights, civil liberties, legal certainty, etc.), to clarify the concept of ethics in various areas of law and various human and professional activities, and also to understand concerning tc. Current issues of multiculturalism in on local geographic and cultural-historical principles (resp. customs), law and ethics.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit are the student's knowledge acquired at the oral exam.
Syllabus
  • 1. Ethics as a philosophical category. Comparison of ethics and law. The concept of truth
  • 2 A natural law. Natural versus positive law.
  • 3 Legal norms and ethics. Radbruchs formula.
  • 4 Multiculturality versus national and cultural-historical specifics in legal and ethical issues.
  • 5 Freedom of speech, tolerance, limitation of freedom, fundamental right v. absolute right, right to information.
  • 6 Protection of human personality. Concept of personal data.
  • 7 Law and ethics in mass media. Protection of personality and mass media (see e.g. press act).
  • 8 Marketing, economic competition, protection of market agains unfair competition.
  • 9 Market environment, lobbyism, corruption, procurement.
  • 10 Ethics in advertising, advertising regulation act, ethical codes in advertising.
  • 11 Ethics in consumer relations. Protection of the weaker party relationship.
  • 12 Ethics in human medicine. Protection of personality in human medicine

Teaching methods
Interpretation of s   practical examples and possibilities queries in   During the course, the emphasis on interactivity and focus of the course into practice. Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.

The course is finished by taking an oral exam.
