The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives (in Czech)
The course objective is to provide the students with expert support and training to elaborate the bachelor theses. The goal is to introduce the students to the issues of the scientific work and to acquaint them with the rules, procedures and techniques for creation of professional texts at the standard of the bachelor level of education.
At the end of this course, students will be able to understand the processes of elaboration of the final work, to draw up the submission and introduction of the bachelor theses and actively make use of the information on the procedures of scientific work. On the basis of acquired knowledge, students can proceed with the formation of the bachelor theses.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. The importance of the bachelor theses and the requirements for its professional level; procedure for the selection of the topic (use of the knowledge and expertise in making the choice).
  • 2. Methodology of processing of the theses including outline of literature (the sources) and planning for consultations with the guiding tutor; cooperation with the guiding tutor in the development of the theses during the follow-up courses Bachelor Theses Project 1 and 2.
  • 3. Methods of scientific work and their selection for the processing of the final work; the solution to the problem; text creation, editing and styling.
  • 4. The content and structure of the text, the content and methodology of elaboration of the introduction part of the theses.
  • 5. The formal form of the theses, work with the template, including the use of the text software; the ethics of scientific work and work with sources, copyright and plagiary; potential of the information system and its use in processing and submission of the theses; presentation of university’s internal standards.
  • 6. Formation of the abstract, processing of the theoretically-methodological section, the application part and the conclusion of the theses; requirements for completion of the follow-up courses; the process of the opposition procedure and defence of the theses.

Teaching methods (in Czech)
6 seminars for full-time students
Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Students who fail to fulfill the above mandatory scope of participation will be given additional assignments to demonstrate the required level of the subject’s understanding. The course is credited based on 1. Active participation during the seminars – demonstrating mastering Methodological Instruction to develop BT, 2. presentation of BT assignment approved / signed by BT supervisor, 3. presentation of Introduction part of the bachelor theses approved / signed by DT supervisor.
