Course objectives
The aim of the course is to present and explain to the students the legal framework of the EU internal market and other related common policies of the Union, as the consumer protection, competition law or EU company law. Emphasis is placed on the valid primary and secondary EU law, completed by important case-law created in the past period by the European Court of Justice. At the end of this course students should be able to understand and explain the principles of functioning of the freedoms of internal market in their interrelation and impact on the national laws of the Member States, including the Czech Republic.
Learning outcomes
After finishing the course the student will be able to: -identify and summarize important features of the transnational regulation of the EU internal market -identify and describe the use of a secondary EU law in the development of the legal framework of the EU internal market -compare and highlight the differences of the level of the legislation of EU law in different areas the internal market (the four freedoms of the market) -apply the legal procedures for the decision of EU Courts in practical examples of a dispute between the EU Commission and Member States (types of lawsuits, legal effects, enforceability); -analyze the conditions for legal enforceability of the decision of the Court of the EU for each categories (types) of judicial proceedings by TFEU

Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods
Grades assessment on the basis of knowledge test and at least 55 % attendance on seminiars Exam test consists of 30 closed questions per 2 pts for correct answer and 1 pt for incomplete answer. Minimum is obtaining 35 pts; if student obtains 20 - 34 pts, the result may be compensated by oral exam (3 partial questions) Details on marking to be told to students at seminars.
