- Course objectives
- The subject Financial investments complement the complex knowledge of finance and financial services. At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain the process of financial investment, both by actors-investors, and object-investment tools, market-regulated, unregulated, national and international, as well as common-factors influencing investors' decisions, analysis of investment tools-basis financial investment and portfolio-choice and critical element of financial investing. The combination of lectures and seminars consequential allow students to also get some basic skills that they can use in their future work classification.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to:
- Find examples of investment project risks;
- elaborate reasoned and reasoned thinking on the search for support of investment and other development projects with investment instruments
- to process reasoned and reasoned thinking on the search for support for development projects from public finances, including grants;
- Explain and model the selected stock analyzes;
- to obtain and evaluate information from financial markets - Syllabus
- 1) The financial investment as one of the basic characteristics of financial markets, its essence and basic tasks;
- 2) Segments of financial investment and their basic specifics;
- 3) Basic financial investment entities, their specifics and status in processes and relationships realized in the markets with investment instruments;
- 4) Real market infrastructure and its importance for the design and conduct of financial investment;
- 5) Regulated markets and their characteristics affecting financial investment, trading at various market system, systematic internalisation;
- 6) Investment instruments and their specifics and the specifics of investing in various investment instruments;
- 7) Analysis of investment instruments - the basis of financial investing, fundamental analysis of stocks;
- 8) Technical analysis of stocks and its current form and trends, psychological analysis;
- 9) Fundamental Analysis, its implementation on share and commodity markets;
- 10) Specifics of derivatives markets, price derivatives, revenues from derivatives,
- 11) Portfolio and its selection (a crucial element of financial investing), investment process and its stages;
- 12) Financial investments in after-crisis conditions,influence of non-economical events on the markets

- Teaching methods
- Lectures and seminars with the acceptance of implemented innovations and changes in the study area. Presentation and defence of group seminar work. Teaching takes the form of lectures and seminars in the full-time study and directed group consultations in the combined form of study. Minimum mandatory attendance at seminars / workshops in the full-time study is 75%, in the controlled group consultations in combined form of study 50%. Students who fail to meet the mandatory level of participation may be given during the semester additional study obligations (to the extent that will demonstrate academic achievement and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of course).
- Assessment methods
- Credit will be given for a well-prepared and presented semester thesis and active discussion during lectures. The final ordinary live examination - the possibility of imposing the written test.
