The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Students will understand the basics of the law of copyright (author's rights and related rights), elementary theoretical underpinnings (including the interplay with other IP rights and the unfair competition), the content and subject of the copyright, the notion of the author, as well as the copyright contract law, exceptions and limitations and problem of copyright infringement. In the media law, the discussion will encompass the TV and radio regulation, press law and the new media. Focus on the freedom of expression (freedom of press), publicity and privacy and regulation of advertising. The student shall be able to spot and evaluate basic legal issues and interpret basic legal texts.

Students will understand the basics of the law of copyright (author's rights and related rights), elementary theoretical underpinnings (including the interplay with other IP rights and the unfair competition), the content and subject of the copyright, the notion of the author, as well as the copyright contract law, exceptions and limitations and problem of copyright infringement. In the media law, the discussion will encompass the TV and radio regulation, press law and the new media. Focus on the freedom of expression (freedom of press), publicity and privacy and regulation of advertising. The student shall be able to spot and evaluate basic legal issues and interpret basic legal texts.

Students should be knowledgeable in the rules of media such as print, broadcast and television and the internet, and their effects on society and the legal relations in connection with the copyright act. At the end of the course the student should be able to explain and interpret media and copyright institutes to apply theoretical information, create copyright documents, the student is able to contractual relationships to protect their rights and obligations.

Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be knowledgeable in the institutes of copyright law as a component of intellectual property rights; be able to explain the theory, content and subject, the effects of legal acts in the field, especially the license agreement, and the consequences of breach copyright act. Students should be knowledgeable in the rules of media such as print, broadcast and television and the internet, and their effects on society and the legal relations in connection with the copyright act. At the end of the course the student should be able to explain and interpret media and copyright institutes to apply theoretical information, create copyright documents, the student is able to contractual relationships to protect their rights and obligations.

The course is completed with written exam. The written exam consists of 20 multiple choice test questions, 60 points max, 45 points min is required to pass the exam.

Course objectives (in Czech)
Cílem předmětu je seznámení studentů s pojmy „svoboda projevu“, „právo na informace“, ústavní záruky, omezení svobody projevu a práva na informace, dále nabytí základních znalostí z oboru soukromého a veřejného práva týkajícího se médií. Studenti by měli získat základní orientaci v právní úpravě vztahující se k vydávání periodického a neperiodického tisku, provozování rozhlasového a televizního vysílání, internetu. Vymezení pojmu „reklama“ a její regulace (reklama povolená a nepovolená), etika v reklamě, samoregulace. Studenti se seznámí s právem na ochranu osobnosti a dobré pověsti, s výjimkami z absolutní ochrany (osoby veřejného života), a dále s právem nekalé soutěže (i v souvislosti s pojmem reklamy). Studenti získají informace týkající se odpovědnosti jednotlivých subjektů (fyzických, právnických osob, poskytovatelů obsahu, informátorů, novinářů, vydavatelů, provozovatelů) při realizaci svobody projevu. Studenti budou seznámeni se způsoby, jak se lze domoci informací z oblasti veřejné správy, jak se bránit v případě jejich neposkytnutí (odepření poskytnutí). V rámci "autorské" části předmětu bude nastíněna problematika autorského práva v Česku (rovněž ve vztahu k ostatním zemím), studenti se seznámí s pojmy jako autorské dílo, osobnostní a majetková práva, ochrana autorských práv, zákonné licence, licenční smlouva, dílo na objednávku, zaměstnanecké dílo, nakladatelská smlouva, audiovizuální dílo, kolektivní správa. Cílem je kromě jiného studenty naučit vnímat i nehmotné výsledky duševní tvorby jako právní kategorii.

Rozsah povinné účasti ve výuce na seminářích nebo cvičeních v prezenčním studiu je stanoven minimálně na 80%, na řízených skupinových konzultacích na 50%. Rozsah se uvádí v každém sylabu ve standardním textu vč. níže uvedené dodatečné studijní povinnosti: Rozsah povinné účasti ve výuce: Minimální povinná účast na cvičení / semináři v prezenčním studiu je 80%, na řízených skupinových konzultacích v kombinovaném studiu 50%. Studentům, kteří nesplní povinný rozsah účasti, mohou být v průběhu semestru zadány dodatečné studijní povinnosti (v míře, která umožní prokázat studijní výsledky a získané kompetence nezbytné pro úspěšné zakončení předmětu).

Anotace je stejná pro obě formy studia: Cílem předmětu je seznámení studentů s pojmy „svoboda projevu“, „právo na informace“, ústavní záruky, omezení svobody projevu a práva na informace, dále nabytí základních znalostí z oboru soukromého a veřejného práva týkajícího se médií. Studenti by měli získat základní orientaci v právní úpravě vztahující se k vydávání periodického a neperiodického tisku, provozování rozhlasového a televizního vysílání, internetu. Vymezení pojmu „reklama“ a její regulace (reklama povolená a nepovolená), etika v reklamě, samoregulace. Studenti se seznámí s právem na ochranu osobnosti a dobré pověsti, s výjimkami z absolutní ochrany (osoby veřejného života), a dále s právem nekalé soutěže (i v souvislosti s pojmem reklamy). Studenti budou seznámeni se způsoby, jak se lze domoci informací z oblasti veřejné správy, jak se bránit v případě jejich neposkytnutí (odepření poskytnutí). V rámci "autorské" části předmětu bude nastíněna problematika autorského práva v Česku (rovněž ve vztahu k ostatním zemím), studenti se seznámí s pojmy jako autorské dílo, osobnostní a majetková práva, ochrana autorských práv, zákonné licence, licenční smlouva, dílo na objednávku, zaměstnanecké dílo, nakladatelská smlouva, audiovizuální dílo, kolektivní správa. Cílem je kromě jiného studenty naučit vnímat i nehmotné výsledky duševní tvorby jako právní kategorii.

Metody výuky: Výklad s praktickými příklady a možností dotazů v průběhu výuky, důraz na interaktivitu a praktický ráz předmětu. Metody hodnocení: Písemný test, podle výsledku ústní zkouška.

Anotace je stejná pro obě formy studia: Cíl kurzu:Cílem předmětu je získání znalostí z oboru soukromého a veřejného práva, týkajícího se médií. Studenti by se měli získat základní orientaci v právní úpravě vztahující se k vydávání periodického a neperiodického tisku, provozování rozhlasového a televizního vysílání, regulace v oblasti reklamy a autorských práv. Záměrem je přiblížit i právní rámec, v němž je realizována svoboda projevu a právo na přístup k informacím.

Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Students will understand the basics of the law of copyright (author's rights and related rights), elementary theoretical underpinnings (including the interplay with other IP rights and the unfair competition), the content and subject of the copyright, the notion of the author, as well as the copyright contract law, exceptions and limitations and problem of copyright infringement. In the media law, the discussion will encompass the TV and radio regulation, press law and the new media. Focus on the freedom of expression (freedom of press), publicity and privacy and regulation of advertising. The student shall be able to spot and evaluate basic legal issues and interpret basic legal texts.

Teaching methods
Lecture with facultative attendance. Nevertheless, focus of the exam is on the issues discussed in classes.
Assessment methods
The course is completed with written exam. The written exam consists of 10 multiple choice test questions with 0-4 correct answers. A written paper is required in case of non-attendance in seminars in the required number of classes.
