Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain ... subject, methods and social functions of sociology, sociological paradigms, history of sociological thought and contemporary sociological theory. Questions will be discussed in the light of social relations policy of multiculturalism, minority status and role in society and the formation of collective identities. Bring the issue of social structure and clarify the main approaches differentiation. Recent findings from the area of ​​sociology of organization, preparation of quantitative social research, evaluation and final report.

Basic theoretical knowledge, orientation in problems and context of monitored topics. At the same time, the practical skills and skills of applying the acquired knowledge in a real environment of professional activities. The learning outcomes are the support and development of the profile of the educated practitioner.

Weber, economic class status, theory of social space - P. Bourdieu) 6. Basic data on social structure development in the CR after 1990 7. Organizational processes in society, types of organizations, organizational principles in organization management 8. Sociological knowledge, social phenomenon, social problem as subject of research 9. Research techniques, basic and selected sampling, techniques of empirical data collection 10. Assessment methods
Course B_SOC_C is completed by a credit and examination: Credit will be awarded for a course paper 6 - 8 pages long designed as a proposal of sociological survey using questionnaire as main survey instrument. The paper will be submitted in electronic form. Full time students will present their project at seminars. To obtain a credit, 50% attendance of seminars is required for part-time students, 75% for full-time students. Examination will have a form of written test and discussion. The topics for the examination will be announced in the Student Information System. Student can sign up for the examination only after obtaining the credit.

Course objectives
The concept of the subject is based on an effort to educate students in the general cultural and historical level of the development of human society, to point out current economic, political or cultural trends influencing social processes and the form of social reality of a globalized late modern society. At the same time, it is an attempt to qualify students towards the requirements of the functioning of public administration, where the ability to apply sociological "knowledge" in the assessment and decision-making of labor issues related to the social aspects of life is envisaged. Students will be led to critical thinking in evaluating and assessing different social events, activities and events in the context of the communication environment. The concept of the subject follows the development of the graduate profile as an educated practitioner.

Paradigmatic structure in sociology. 2. The History of Sociological Thought - Historical conditions of sociology and its origins. Tradition and modernity. From classical sociology to the concepts of late-time societies. 3. Foundations of human society I. Man, society and nature. Contemporary biologizing concepts of man - sociobiology and genocentrism 4. Foundations of Human Society II. Man, society and culture. Cultural determinism as opposition to biological concepts. 5. Social structure of society I. Structure of society and the problem of social inequalities. Approaches of social differentiation of society 6. Social structure of society II. Changes in the social structure of late modern societies. Growth of social inequalities, wealth and poverty. 7. Sociology of organization - organized modernity and paradoxes of bureaucracy 8. Assessment methods
The course is completed by the fulfilling of requirements. Students gain credits for a successful defence of the seminar paper. The defence includes a critical discussion and peer evaluation. Presentation of the seminar paper takes about 25 – 30minutes. One of the following topics should be chosen: a) secondary analysis of the current sociological research concerning the issues of the knowledge of human well-being or b) an identification of unintended effects of marketing statements.

Course objectives
The objective of the course is to describe the principles of traditional, modern, postmodern and global society in the context of sociological theories. The student should be able to analyse a sociological discourse about a character of a postmodern society and he/she should learn to interpret chosen sociological conceptions of contemporary time in the conditions of the accelerated global processes. Moreover, the student should know the globalization of economic, political and cultural processes; especially the social consequences of these processes. The student should be properly informed about the alternatives of the ‘open’ world, hope and opportunity of the global period of the society and should be able to identify global risks from environmental, political and social points of view. The course provides the interpretation of the work of Z. Baumann and his conception of ‘liquid modernity’ as an alternative of the form of the global society. The student should analyse the problem of increasing individualisation and uncertainty in the society, point out signals of the new forms of global lifestyles and to discuss the questions of commercialization of day-to-day living in the conditions of welfare society. In addition to, the objective of the course is also to put an emphasis on the importance of the social effects of marketing communications as an intervention factor in a social area. Finally, the student should be able to introduce and explain the phenomenon of a human happiness in the welfare society and a participation of marketing communications on the imaginations about happiness and a choice of the individual strategies of its achievement.

  • 1. The current sociological discourse about a character of the postmodern society (from traditional to global society). Principles of the traditional, modern, postmodern and global society – What society do we live in?
  • 2. Theory of modernity. Organized modernity and the term of ‘an organized person’.
  • 3. Theory of modernization. Specification of the first and the second wave of modernization theories, emancipation theory of the modernization and identification of social, political and economic consequences of modernity.
  • 4. Disputes over the character of globalization. The terms – globalization, globalism. Liberal and socio-critical point of view of the process of globalization. The first and second phase of globalization. ‘The winners’ and ‘the losers’ of globalization.
  • 5. Globalisation of economics. Deregulation, privatization, liberalization of economics and its connections to the society. Economics without borders, politics without power etc.
  • 6. Globalisation and a social state. Typology of social states, increasing of social risks, consequences of the changes of a character of work, prekarization of work, problems of employability in the modern society, flexibility of work and its consequences.
  • 7. Globalisation of politics. European integration, particularism, universalism, social movements, problems of present nationalism, ethnic a racial issues, multiculturalism and the policy of identities.
  • 8. Globalization of culture. New cultural phenomenon (hybridity and creolization), carnival society, new global lifestyles, commercialisation of day-to-day living, hedonism.
  • 9. Theory of liquid modernity by Z. Bauman.
  • 10. Living in the period of liquid modernity. From mentality of a game warden, a gardener to mentality of a hunter, the changes of life trajectories of man.
  • 11. The life as an artistic work. Art of self-identification and the construction of identity in period of ‘hunters and players’ society.
  • 12. Living in the period of welfare society. The syndrome of a big wolf and looking for happiness in welfare society. Phenomenon of human happiness and a choice of individual strategies for its achievement.

At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain ... subject, methods and social functions of sociology, sociological paradigms, history of sociological thought and contemporary sociological theory. Questions will be discussed in the light of social relations policy of multiculturalism, minority status and role in society and the formation of collective identities. Bring the issue of social structure and clarify the main approaches differentiation. Recent findings from the area of ​​sociology of organization, preparation of quantitative social research, evaluation and final report.
Learning outcomes
Basic theoretical knowledge, orientation in problems and context of monitored topics. At the same time, the practical skills and skills of applying the acquired knowledge in a real environment of professional activities. The learning outcomes are the support and development of the profile of the educated practitioner.

Course B_SOC_C is completed by a credit and examination: Credit will be awarded for a course paper 6 - 8 pages long designed as a proposal of sociological survey using questionnaire as main survey instrument. The paper will be submitted in electronic form. Full time students will present their project at seminars. To obtain a credit, 50% attendance of seminars is required for part-time students, 75% for full-time students. Examination will have a form of written test and discussion. The topics for the examination will be announced in the Student Information System. Student can sign up for the examination only after obtaining the credit.

At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain ... subject, methods and social functions of sociology, sociological paradigms, history of sociological thought and contemporary sociological theory. Questions will be discussed in the light of social relations policy of multiculturalism, minority status and role in society and the formation of collective identities. Bring the issue of social structure and clarify the main approaches differentiation. Recent findings from the area of ​​sociology of organization, preparation of quantitative social research, evaluation and final report.

Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods
Course B_SOC_C is completed by a credit and examination: Credit will be awarded for a course paper 6 - 8 pages long designed as a proposal of sociological survey using questionnaire as main survey instrument. The paper will be submitted in electronic form. Full time students will present their project at seminars. To obtain a credit, 50% attendance of seminars is required for part-time students, 75% for full-time students. Examination will have a form of written test and discussion. The topics for the examination will be announced in the Student Information System. Student can sign up for the examination only after obtaining the credit.

Cíl kurzu: Cílem předmětu je seznámit posluchače s předmětem, metodami a společenskými funkcemi sociologie, sociologickými paradigmaty, dějinami sociologického myšlení a soudobými sociologickými teoriemi. Výuka bude rovněž zaměřena na tradiční sociologická témata.Diskutovány budou otázky sociálních vztahů ve světle politiky multikulturalismu, postavení a role minorit ve společnosti a utváření kolektivních identit. Cílem je současně přiblížit problematiku sociální struktury společnosti a objasnit hlavní přístupy diferenciace společnosti. Posluchači se seznámí s aktuálními poznatkyz oblasti sociologie organizací.V druhé části kurzu budou posluchači seznámeni s přípravou zvláště kvantitativního sociálního výzkumu, jeho vyhodnocením a zpracováním závěrečné zprávy s důrazem na využití v podnikové a společenské praxi.Získané znalosti a dovednosti budou využity i při zpracování bakalářských prací.

Sociální a kulturní kapitál.Vývoj sociální struktury české společnosti od roku 1990. 4. Sociologie organizace – pojem organizace a organizační procesy jako imanentní součást života lidské společnosti. Role formální a neformální struktury organizací, podniková a firemní kultura. 5.Sociologické poznání, výzkumný postup a techniky sběru empirických dat.6.Zpracování empirických dat, závěrečná zpráva. Ukončení předmětu B_SOC_C je zápočtem a zkouškou: Zápočet: zpracování samostatné práce v rozsahu 6 -8 stran: návrh projektu sociologického výzkumu na vlastní téma, návrh výzkumné sondy, návrh novinové ankety apod. Součástí práce je alespoň část výzkumného dotazníku. Zápočtová práce je pedagogovi předložena v elektronické podobě.V prezenčním studiu může být k prezentaci zápočtových prací využito cvičení. Konkrétní podmínky určuje pedagog. Podmínkou udělení zápočtu je povinná 50 % účast na řízených skupinových konzultacích u kombinovaného studia, 75 % u prezenčního. Zkouška: formou písemného testu s ústním projednáním. Ke zkoušce budou připraveny tematické okruhy a zveřejněny na ISu nejpozději do čtrnácti dnů po ukončení výuky předmětu. Zkouškové termíny budou vypsány v souladu se studijním řádem VŠFS. Na zkoušku je možné se přihlásit po udělení zápočtu.

Course objectives
The concept of the subject is based on an effort to educate students in the general cultural and historical level of the development of human society, to point out current economic, political or cultural trends influencing social processes and the form of social reality of a globalized late modern society. At the same time, it is an attempt to qualify students towards the requirements of the functioning of public administration, where the ability to apply sociological "knowledge" in the assessment and decision-making of labor issues related to the social aspects of life is envisaged. Students will be led to critical thinking in evaluating and assessing different social events, activities and events in the context of the communication environment. The concept of the subject follows the development of the graduate profile as an educated practitioner.
Learning outcomes
Basic theoretical knowledge, orientation in problems and context of monitored topics. At the same time, the practical skills and skills of applying the acquired knowledge in a real environment of professional activities. The learning outcomes are the support and development of the profile of the educated practitioner.

Assessment methods
The course is completed by the fulfilling of requirements. Students gain credits for a successful defence of the seminar paper. The defence includes a critical discussion and peer evaluation. Presentation of the seminar paper takes about 25 – 30minutes. One of the following topics should be chosen: a) secondary analysis of the current sociological research concerning the issues of the knowledge of human well-being or b) an identification of unintended effects of marketing statements.
