- Students are divided into two levels on the results of their initial placement test within the entrance test. Level A – higher level (intermediate), their obligation is to pass an intensive two-term training in the Czech language for foreigners A – general.
- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The objective of the intensive two-term Czech language course is the acquisition of communicative skills on the level A2/B1. This means understanding lectures held in the Czech language, ability to write notes, ability to read a specialized text with understanding, to express in both oral and written form. The objective of the course is also to achieve comparable levels of language with a group of more advanced students so that they can continue in the same subject (Czech language for foreigners B) in the second year.
- Syllabus
- This syllabus applies to full-time and part-time study. Content of seminars: 1-3 INTRODUCTIONS, MEETING PEOPLE, FAMILY, HOUSING, SCHOOL, STUDIES Sound and graphic features of Czech, negative, adjectives, conjugation of verbs. 4-6 MY DAY, DAILY ACTIVITIES, WORK, SCHOOL, FREE DAYS, DAILY ROUTINE Numerals, adverbs, past tense, prepositions. 7-9 PRAGUE, THE CZECH REPUBLIC, ORIENTATION IN THE CITY, TRAVELLING, MEANS OF TRANSPORT, Verbal aspect, future tense, genitive of nouns, modal verbs. 10-12 EATING, DRINKING, RESTAURANT, SHOPPING, MONEY Quantity expressions, numerals, prepositions of place and time, indefinite and negative pronouns. 13-15 VISITS, BIRTHDAYS, CONGRATULATIONS, CELEBRATIONS, PUBLIC HOLIDAYS, Polite phrases in Czech, letters, e-mails, possessive pronouns, plural of nouns. 16- 18 SEASONS, WEATHER, HOLIDAYS, HOLIDAY, WEEKENDS Dative of nouns, prepositions, conjunctions, declension of adjectives and pronouns. 19- 21 DISEASE, GP, MEDICAL TREATMENT, CHECK-UP, PREVENTION, ABSENCE, APOLOGY, SICK LEAVE, MATERNITY LEAVE Vocabulary concerning health – disease, basic phrase at the doctor, formulation of sick notes, comparison of adjectives and adverbs, instrumental of nouns. 22-24 WORK, OCCUPATION, SPECIALTY, UNEMPLOYMENT, RETRAINING Motion verbs, ordinals, writing CV, corporate communications, request, message. 25-27 LEISURE TIME, SPORT, MUSIC, FILM, LITERATURE, FASHION, LIFESTYLE Sentences, linking words, conditionals, declension of numerals. 28-30 MEDIA – RADIO, TELEPHONE, TELEVISION, COMPUTER, INTERNET, SOCIAL NETWORKS Standard and common Czech, differences in vocabulary and in grammatical plane. 31-33 DAILY PRESS, CURRENT POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC SITUATION, HOT NEWS Journalistic style, economic vocabulary, revision of problematic grammar. 34-36 CONCLUSION, CREDIT TEST, ASSESSMENT.
