- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- Explain the principles of EU law, its institutional backgrounds and in connection with it the issue of creation and implementation of the EU Common Security Policy, policy of judicial and police cooperation – EUROPOL, EUROJUST. Areas to be covered include further on the instruments for police and judicial cooperation like request for cooperation in criminal proceedings, cross-border provision of evidence and European arrest warrant. Last but not least, the lectures will deal with issues of police and judicial cooperation between Czech Republic and other EU member states as well as with the UK after its withdrawal of EU membership.
- Learning outcomes
- - After participating in the course the student will have good knowledge about the the fundaments of institutional background of the EU and its instruments in police and judicial cooperation between EU member states. With this knowledge the student will be able to - · identify legal problems in the European security area: - · analyse the applicable legal solutions; - · identify and analyse effective EU law and relevant EU case law - · present and discuss different aspects of European criminal and security policy oriented to strengthen the operation of specialised EU institutions

- 1. Základy bezpečnostní, policejní a justiční spolupráce v rámci EU 2. Cizinecká politika EU 3. Policejní spolupráce mezi členskými státy v trestněprávní oblasti 4. Soudní spolupráce mezi členskými státy v trestněprávní oblasti 5. Harmonizace trestněprávních předpisů – konkrétní oblasti 6. Spolupráce v občanskoprávní oblasti 7. Bezpečnostní aspekty volného pohybu osob, zboží a služeb v EU 8. Společná bezpečnostní a obranná politika – součást Společné zahraniční a bezpečnostní politiky 9. Soudní dvůr EU 10. Řízení u Soudního dvora 11. Přímé žaloby v řízení před soudy EU 12. Nepřímé žaloby v řízení před SDEU

- Teaching methods
- The course will be taught in Czech. The course uses a combination of lectures, seminars and problem-based assignments. Participation in most of these is mandatory
- Assessment methods
- An exam in the form of 20 closed questions (multiple choice), whereby 11 answers must be correct to pass the exam.
