- Cíle předmětu
- LEARNING GOALS Upon the successful completion of this course, you will be able to: 1. Develop effective business writing strategies; 2. Distinguish between formal and informal business writing, implement terminology 3. Analyze the writing of others in order to craft a strong response; 4. Formulate thoughtful and stylistically correct sentences, paragraphs, introductions, and conclusions; 5. Evaluate sources of information in various media; 6. Integrate information from sources into business documents; 7. Adapt your business writing to specific audiences and purposes. 8. Experience writing all basic types of business written communication CORE CONCEPTS To achieve the goals of this course, you will need to master the following core concepts: 1. Reading critically to examine an author’s reasoning, assumptions, and values; 2. Analyzing the writing context for purpose and audience; 3. Making your writing clear and easy for your readers to follow; 4. Summarizing an argument fairly and effectively; 5. Using details such as personal observations, facts, and expert opinions to support ideas; 6. Locating and evaluating sources to learn about a topic; 7. Integrating source material into business writing;

- Seminars in both types of study (full-time students and part-time students). The explanation of new concepts will be immediately followed by practical exercises - individual work, work in pairs, group work. Special focus will be given to the evaluation of students' progress.

- ATTENDANCE: 75% - minimum (40%-74%=penalty of one test retake less; 0%-39%=take course again) PARTICIPATION You are expected to actively participate in class. Active participation involves coming to class prepared, being involved with class activities and discussions and completing all outside assignments as requested. When you are absent, you are responsible for finding out what was covered while you were gone. You are also expected to demonstrate respect for your fellow students. Cell Phones: At no time can you use your cell phone in any manner while in class. Please have your phones turned off and put away (in your bag or under your desk) when you are in class.
