- Course objectives
- At the end of the course the student will be able to understand the basic problems of criminology. The aim is to acquaint students with the issues and concepts in the field of science that deals with crime, a crime as a mass social and legal phenomenon. In the process of teaching, ie within the designated time allotment, to give students the necessary theoretical knowledge in particular. This knowledge also some practical examples to demonstrate the possibilities of appropriate crime prevention. In particular, the teaching will focus attention on mastering the essential terms relating to the same basic criminological theories. Furthermore, the condition of the structure and dynamics of crime, crime forecasting and crime prevention.

- 1. The general interpretation of the foundations of the field of criminology. Concept and object relationship to the related sciences, other sciences to , the practical importance of criminology. 2. Stage, structure and dynamics of crime, criminological research. 3. Environment and crime, predicting crime. 4. Socio-psychological processes and their impact on crime. 5. Criminological theory. 6. Personality of the offender. 7. Injury and victims of crime. 8. Relationship criminology and criminal law. 9. Criminal control. 10. Principles of restorative justice. Probation and Mediation Service. 11. Criminology and penology. 12. Crime prevention. Crime prevention as a science activity, classification, basic values and principles.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
- Assessment methods
- The course ends with a credit and an exam. The criterion for granting the credit is the elaboration of a seminar paper on a given topic together with its presentation in class (minimum 50% of points) and passing a written test, which consists of 30 questions (minimum 50% of points). The oral exam presupposes knowledge of the lectured material and compulsory literature.
