The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Students will receive practical knowledge about the actual trends in regional programming used nowadays in public sector. Students will be orientated in the development projects and programming with the specialisation to the regional policy. The course explains the basic legislative framework of strategic planning and programming. They will be able to identify different tools and methods of regional policy in the conetxt of territory specifics. Students obtain the information about the actual main strategic programms at national, regional and local level. The specific attention will be paid to the actual programming period of regional policy. Students will try to prepare a project proposal in the framework of actual strategic plans of regional policy.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able after the course orientate themselves in basic programming documents of the regional policy in Czech Republic and EU. Students will be able to introduce main programs documents, their imprortance and use in the regional development projects.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the regional planning issues, programming, regional planning and strategic planning. Historic context of regional programming management in EU countries. 2. Methodology of strategic planning and programming. Indicators of evaluation of socio-economic evaluation of regions. Evaluation of strategic documents. 3. Legislative framework of the strategic documents in EU and CZech Republic. Actual practise. 4. Typology of individual programming documents. Strategy in the regional policy projects. Regional and thematic operation programs. Partnership principle. 7. Main strategic documents of EU and Czech Republic. Strategy of regional development of CR. Objectives and indicators of regional development of CR. 8. Regional programming documents in CR, institutions, decisions processes, implementation. 9. Thematic programming documents in CR, institutions, decisions processes, implementation. 10. Financial aspects of projects and programs of regional development. 11. Programming cycle. 12. Monitoring information systems.

Lectures, seminars, team´s projects.
Assessment methods
Course is closed by a semestre project and test. Each part is evaluated for 50 points, min points to receive a credit is 60.
