- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- This course complements and develops the criminological topics taught in the course Criminology 1. The aim is to deepen students' knowledge in the field of this science, which deals with crime, ie crime as a mass social and legal phenomenon. Part of the individual lecture topics is also the focus on prevention in the field.
- Learning outcomes
- Successful passing of the credit and exam from the subject.
- Syllabus
- 1. Reminder of a general interpretation of the basics of criminology. Concept and subject, relation to related sciences, to other sciences, practical significance of criminology. The relationship between criminology and criminal policy. International cooperation. 2. Sanctions policy in the Czech Republic. 3. Penological studies - international trends in the development of prisons, the case law of the ECtHR in the field of prisons. 4. Penological studies - new trends in prisons in the Czech Republic. 5. Penological studies - imprisonment and imprisonment in the Czech Republic. 6. Juvenile delinquency. 7. Seniors as perpetrators and victims of crime. 8. Criminal recidivism. 9. Economic and property crime. 10. Violent crime. Moral crime. 11. Hate crimes. Extremism. 12. Organized crime. Drug crime.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
- Assessment methods
- The course ends with a credit and an exam. The criterion for granting the credit is the elaboration of a seminar paper on a given topic together with its presentation in class (minimum 50% of points) and passing a written test, which consists of 30 questions (minimum 50% of points). The oral exam presupposes knowledge of the lectured material and compulsory literature.
