Interregional cooperation is permitted by legal regulation, but in reality the regions use this option only to a very limited extent. In case of activities that the regions carry out in separate powers of regions, the state does not have the possibility to force them to cooperate with each other. The only option is to create motivational mechanisms, thanks to which the regions themselves would consider mutual cooperation to be advantageous. The state should play an active role in this. Interregional cooperation appears to be important for the effective provision of public services, especially in areas around regional borders. Functional regions should be created here, and regional borders should not represent a barrier to the possibility of use of public services for citizens of different regions.
