Small farms are a key tool for the sustainable management of natural re-sources, the maintenance of traditional production of healthy and high-quality food and the preservation of authentic rural life. The article presents an evaluation of approaches to small farms, the benefits of farms for the de-velopment of the territory, and also identifies the possibilities of expanding the business activities on farms together with financing tools for their own development. Based on the synthesis of finding from the field survey, rec-ommendations were formulated for the development of municipalities in the Eastern Ore Mountains and for the development of small farms. For munici-palities, it is primarily a more effective application of cooperation with farms and more effective use of tools for the implementation of these cooperation or possible support. For small farms, recommendations are formulated pri-marily for expanding their range of services, brief recommendation for sup-porting farms from the external environment with examples of other coun-tries. The results of the work will be able to be used by farms and municipali-ties as inspiration for their further possible development.
