The Dull Women’s Club (DWC), a Facebook community of over 1.3 million members, counters mainstream social media by celebrating the mundane and rejecting performative culture. This netnographic study examines the DWC as a digital space where members negotiate identity, authenticity, and community, while also grappling with the ethical challenges of studying a semi-private online group. Analysis of symbolic community practices – such as «banana posting» and humorous shoe-size rituals – illustrates how members collectively redefine social norms and build supportive networks. Findings highlight the importance of ethical reflexivity and transparency in digital research and offer insights into identity formation and inclusivity within online communities.

Klub nudných žen (Dull Women’s Club, DWC), facebooková komunita s více než 1,3 milionu členek, představuje alternativu k dominantním formám sociálních médií tím, že oslavuje všednost a odmítá performativní kulturu. Tato netnografická studie zkoumá DWC jako digitální prostor, v němž členky vyjednávají identitu, autenticitu a pocit sounáležitosti, a zároveň reflektuje etické výzvy spojené se zkoumáním polo-soukromých online skupin. Analýza symbolických komunitních praktik – například „banana postingu“ či humorných rituálů spojených s velikostí bot – ukazuje, jak členky společně přetvářejí sociální normy a vytvářejí podpůrné sítě. Zjištění zdůrazňují význam etické reflexivity a transparentnosti v digitálním výzkumu a přinášejí poznatky o formování identity a inkluzivitě v online komunitách.
