Současná doba se vyznačuje vysokou mírou nejistoty, která prostupuje všemi oblastmi společenského i individuálního života. Jedním z mála stabilních předpokladů je skutečnost, že tyto nejistoty přetrvávají, a s vysokou pravděpodobností se dále prohlubují. V kontextu globálních i lokálních turbulencí nabývá otázka budoucnosti mimořádného významu. Tímto tématem se systematicky zabývá i předkládaná odborná monografie „Jak budoucnost ovlivňuje současnost, aneb jak současnost ovlivňuje budoucnost“. Samotný název vyjadřuje základní dialektiku, která prostupuje celým textem: Na jedné straně analyzujeme, jak představy o budoucnosti – byť hypotetické – strukturují naše dnešní strategie a hodnoty. Na straně druhé chápeme, že právě současná rozhodnutí formují konkrétní podobu budoucnosti. Tento vzájemný vztah zakládá rámec, ve kterém se jednotlivé roviny reality navzájem podmiňují.

The present era is characterized by a high degree of uncertainty that permeates all areas of both social and individual life. One of the few stable assumptions is the fact that these uncertainties persist and are likely to deepen further. In the context of global and local turbulence, the question of the future gains extraordinary significance. This issue is systematically addressed in the presented scholarly monograph “How the Future Influences the Present, or How the Present Influences the Future.” The very title expresses the fundamental dialectic that runs throughout the text: on the one hand, we analyze how visions of the future—even hypothetical ones—shape our current strategies and values; on the other hand, we recognize that it is precisely today’s decisions that determine the concrete form of the future. This mutual relationship establishes a framework in which the various layers of reality condition and shape one another.
