Abstract
Příspěvek se zabývá analýzou krize EMS 1992-93 a měnové krize v ČR 1997 s cílem nalézt souvislosti s možným opakováním měnové krize v období setrvání koruny v mechanismu ERM II.
Abstract (in English)
The contribution deals with an analysis of the EMS 1992-93 crisis and 1997 currency crisis in the CR with the aim to find connections with possible recurrence of currency crisis in the period of the Czech crown remaining in the ERM II mechanism. In the assessment of the perspectives of exchange rates development of the currencies involved in ERM II the meeting of other Maastricht criteria (apart from the exchange rate criterion) will have a stabilising impact. At the same time, however, continuing appreciation of real exchange rate should be taken into account. The appreciation can result in uncertainty in the development of competing abilities and, hence, devaluation expectations. The possibility of spreading the crisis through the so-called trade channel, like in the EMS crisis, did not need to be a source of worry. However, there is still peril of contagion based on the principle of investors regional view, especially in the case of unstable exchange rates of Polish and Hungarian currencies.
