Harmonisation of the economy with the euro area is particularly important to ensure that the costs of the euro resulting from the loss of independent monetary policy were relatively small. Therefore, on the one hand we have the fulfillment of the convergence criteria at this time in compliance, on the other hand, there is a degree of alignment with the euro area countries. The paper will focus on some aspects that can be considered substantial. The contribution will be monitoring the level of real economic convergence in the case of selected indicators. Post aims, among other things also cause controversy, whether the criteria are the most important when deciding to join the common currency.
