Práce komplexně popisuje fenomén korupce s důrazem na Českou republiku. Zabývá se charakteristikami, důvody i důsledky korupce, přináší přehled pohledů ekonomické teorie na korupci i vybrané faktory korupce. Ukazuje, že korupce je projevem (důsledkem) institucionálního uspořádání daného systému, extraktivních ekonomických a politických institucí a zdůvodňuje, proč není jednoduché tyto instituce odstranit. Z pohledu institucionální ekonomie zkoumá mj. vztah demokracie a korupce, korupci za socialismu i korupci po pádu socialismu. Na korupci se dívá jako na paralelní redistribuční hru, která se obvykle odehrává v prostředí nežádoucí redistribuce, přičemž toto prostředí umožňuje vznik korupčních sítí respektive v terminologii studie - struktur založených na vzájemném krytí porušování obecně přijatelných zásad. Studie tyto struktury popisuje a označuje za hlavní příčiny existence a rezistence korupce. Poslední kapitola se zabývá bojem proti korupci, kde studie zdůrazňuje, že klíčové je vytvořit takové prostředí (systém), aby jeho členové nebyli motivování ke korupčním aktivitám.

And comprehensively describes the phenomenon of corruption with emphasis on the Czech Republic. It deals with the characteristics, reasons and consequences of corruption, provides an overview of economic theory on corruption and corruption selected factors. It shows that corruption is a manifestation of (the result of) the institutional arrangement of the system, extractive economic and political institutions, and explains why it is not easy to remove these institutions. From the perspective of institutional economics studies, among others. Relation between democracy and corruption, corruption and corruption under socialism after the fall of socialism. Corruption looks like a parallel redistribution game, which usually takes place in an undesirable redistribution, with this environment allows the creation of networks of corruption or in the terminology of the study - structures based on mutual covering violations of generally accepted principles. The study describes these structures and identified as the main causes of existence and resistance of corruption. The last chapter deals with the fight against corruption, where the study emphasizes that the key is to create an environment (system) that its members were not an incentive to corrupt activities.
