This paper thoroughly analyses a very famous book „The End of History (1992)” by Francis Fukuyama which deals with the author’s distinctive concept of liberal democracy. This concept is explored by means of the methodology of scientific research programmes whose author is Imre Lakatos; this methodology studies theories in the historical perspective. On the ground of the Lakatosian methodology it is identified an essence of the theoretical research programme of the End of History, so called the hard core which one demonstrates that the Fukuyamian idea of liberal democracy is not at all a dead product of the history although it may be loosing a general attraction for people. The paper also characterises the basic concepts that would have been at a fundamental variance with the reality to be the idea of Fukuyama definitely denied. The Lakatosian methodology factors of so called external history of science are not enough to do that; these factors are not (above all in social sciences) decisive whether an idea is true or false but they play an important role in how this idea is accepted by a broaden community. In this paper the factors of the external history of science are worked out accordingly to the idea of a strong idea. The paper also explores progression (or modifications) of the research program the End of History.
