Abstract
The Tuesday workshop was focused on the introduction of the euro into the Czech economy. In both prepared speeches and in the subsequent rich discussion was showed that the issue of introduction of the euro is very topical not only for the Czech academical community but also for other countries such as Poland and Hungary. There was a very interesting discussion between the representatives of the countries paying by euro – Germany, Spain and representatives of the countries considering its introduction. It has been confirmed, even on the academical field, there are many substantive arguments, but also many of them are dependent on the current economic situation of a particular country. In some speeches was confirmed that “non-economic arguments” are largely influenced by the political rhetoric of the government and they are reflected in the positive or negative assessment of the introduction of the euro. This was again confirmed by the fact that the decision to introduce the euro itself is more a political decision than an economic decision.
