TY - JOUR ID - 6852 AU - Tomášková, Andrea PY - 2018 TI - Family business in the Czech Republic and its support through subsidies PB - Vysoká škola finanční a správní, a.s. CY - Edice SCIENCEpress, Praha SN - 9788074081613 N1 - nesplňuje definici KW - family business KW - legal form KW - limited liability company KW - joint stock company KW - subsidy N2 - Czech family enterprises prefer legal form of its business: limited liability company, self – employed, joint-stock company, farmer, family farm. The family enterprises are important employers, particularly important employer are in less developed regions. The family businesses employ these types of employees in order: 10 to 49 employees, 50 to 249 employees, 1 to 9 employees, not specified, above 250 employees. A sample of 778 family businesses surveyed showed that the companies drew a total amount of 6.966 mld. CZK (i.e. 55.62%, i.e. 435 companies that draw subsidies) for the period 1999 - 2017. Family enterprises of form joint-stock company received subsidies in the amount of 3.502 mld. CZK (i.e. 12.08% of the surveyed sample of all 778 family enterprises and 77.05% of 94 family enterprises which received subsidies). Family enterprises of form limited liability company received subsidies in amount of 3.205 mld. CZK (i.e. 33.37% of the surveyed sample of all 778 family enterprises and 58.61% of 262 family enterprises which received subsidies). Others received subsidies in amount of 259 mil. CZK. Providers subsidies were mainly Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Ministry of Agriculture. There is a certain ambivalence in drawing subsidies. On the one hand, subsidies can make a significant contribution to development of enterprises, but on the other hand, the firm can to a certain extent become dependent on subsidies. For family businesses, subsidies are significant business support in terms of investment inflows that are key to sustainable growth, job creation and increased competitiveness. The surveyed companies drew subsidies more than once in a year, demonstrating their ability to get a good orientation in subsidy policy. This form of support is not only available but also advantageous. companies also create a degree of dependency on subsidies when co-financing their development. Of the high share of subsidized projects, it is clear that companies are deciding on investments also on the basis of the availability of subsidies. in the coming years, the volume of subsidies will decline, and if companies are not ready for this, they can get into existential problems.
