The textbook is an introduction to this area of law for non-lawyers, not overburden with unnecessary references to legal provisions or extensive notes. The individual legal institutes are presented by fluent exposition of the discussed issues supplemented by practical examples. In intellectual property law, we place emphasis on copyright law and trade marks, that are, from the point of view of the future practice of students, the most common fields; to a lesser extent we also deal with the patent law. The text does not open an academic discussion on controversial theoretical issues, but it represents the fundamentals of the discipline to the extent acceptable to non-lawyers. It counts nevertheless with elementary knowledge of the theory of law and civil law on the side of the reader. The part of text deals with media law including legal regulation of all basic communication channels from the press, television and radio, through new media and social networks. In particular, the focus will be on the responsibility of individual media, as well as individuals and other subjects, which are involved in the creation of media and advertising content. The explanation goes on with getting acquainted with the regulation of advertising, unfair competition and protection of privacy.
