The important issue of intergenerational solidarity and collaboration concerns all areas of life. However, special focus is given to education which is a part of the intention of policy makers and other relevant stakeholders to create new and better opportunities for active ageing. The University of Finance and Administration (VSFS) started to be active in this area long before 2012 keeping an eye on the objective to support different civil society initiatives in strengthening solidary between generations. Firstly, the objectives of this paper are to present secondary (statistical) data on the following topics: the elderly ratio, a phenomenon of active ageing, literature review and case studies on tertiary institutions' involvement as community centres, and the University of the Third Age (U3A) concept and its history in the CR and abroad. Secondly, primary data on the U3A under the auspices of the VSFS – and its regional branch in Most – examining and interpreting selected results of a longitudinal analysis of the educational opportunities for the third age generation are presented. The scope of the analysis is limited to the language and other courses offered and accomplished at the VSFS Most. A research probe on evaluation of English language courses is introduced at the end of the paper as a modern tool of a pro-client approach which is frequently used to improve the design of educational courses. Based on the presented data never published before, progressive trends can be tracked, which clearly indicates positive impact of the VSFS educational activities in the Most region. In conclusion, future research directions and opportunities are suggested. ER -
