TY - CONF ID - 9198 AU - Polišenská, Veronika Anna - Polišenský, Jan PY - 2021 TI - Perception of international tensions and better preparedness: A case of Czech Republic KW - international tensions, preparedness, media, perception UR - https://www.icp2020.com/ N2 - Currently, the international tensions are visible in media every day. Thus, we have concentrated upon the study of relationship between media influence and perception of international threat (Russia, China, USA, Middle East) or domestic threat and whether such perception influences the behaviour of the general public in terms of better preparedness for potential disaster. Better preparedness was in this case defined as: having prepared evacuation suitcase, having cash for at least 5 days, having financial reserve for three months, having food for at least 5 days and water for 2 days. The analyses determined that although 48% of subjects watch public television and only 31% of subjects watched private-owned television, the perception of threat is aimed inwards (organized crime within Czech republic) rather then outwards. Similarily, the level of preparedness among the subjects was low - evacuation suitcase has only 3,6% of subject but cash has 74,3%, money for three months in the bank has 64,3%, food for 5 days has 74,7%, water for two days has 50,3%. Comparison with other european states is necessary. ER -
