Publikace je svým obsahem zaměřena na řešení teoretických i praktických otázek místa činu, metod a taktických postupů při jeho ohledání, zvláštnosti ohledání místa činu některých kriminálních deliktů, vyhledávání a zajišťování stop na místě činu, dokumentaci místa činu a na tomto základě nabízí řešení mnohdy složitých otázek teorie a praxe. Je jednou z mála publikací a první publikací po autorovi Heřmánkovi, která se obšírně věnuje problematice teorie místa činu a jednou z prvních publikací, která se zabývá otázkou teorie a praxe znaleckého zkoumání v komparaci s novou úpravou znalecké činnosti účinnou v České republice od 1. 1. 2021 a v komparaci se zahraniční právní úpravou.
