The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
One of the core subjects of the field of study. Follows up and further develops knowledge from previous courses such as Socioeconomic and Administrative Geography, Regional Analysis and GIS, Management of Municipalities, Cities and Regions, Regional and Municipal Economics, etc. The course focuses on the system of regional development and regional policies and knowledge of processes in the regional development are underway. Furthermore, the course deals with the tools of regional policy and analyzes them in detail. At the same time, he will be ready to take an active part in the analyzes necessary for regional policy.

Follows up and further develops knowledge from previous courses such as Socioeconomic and Administrative Geography, Regional Analysis and GIS, Management of Municipalities, Cities and Regions, Regional and Municipal Economics, etc. You will gain selected important skills in the field of regional development and regional policy. In particular, you will gain skills in the application of legislative and institutional instruments of regional policy. The ability to use selected tools of an economic nature will be a significant skill. You will be able to use the acquired skills in the creation of projects and programs.

Academic and practical conception of regional development; regional development and its relation to regional policy 3. General regional policy: Regional issues and regional policy. 4. Causes of regional policy 5. Definition of regional policy 6. Development of regional policy 7. European Charter of Regional Planning. Regional development concept for Europe 8. External context and doctrinal approaches to regional policy (acceleration, traditional, etc.) 9. The concept of regional policy 10. Motives for the existence of regional policy: - economic - social - environmental - political 11. Regional policy objectives 12. Regional policy instruments: - macroeconomic instruments - microeconomic - others

Teaching methods
Teaching takes place in the form of lectures and seminars in the full-time form of study and in the form of guided group consultations in the combined form of study. In the combined form of study, the subject is taught by distance learning. Extent of compulsory participation in teaching: The minimum compulsory participation in the seminar in the full-time form of study is 75%, in guided group consultations in the combined form of study 50%. Students who do not meet the mandatory scope of participation may be assigned additional study obligations during the semester (to the extent that will allow to prove study results and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of the course).

The course ends with an exam and credit.
