The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course offers a general introduction to the main theories and methods of semiotic analysis, providing useful tools for studying the processes of creation and interpretation of meaning, as well as the functioning of various complex systems of signs. Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the analysis, interpretation, and understanding of language, storytelling, and various forms of communication in the contemporary world will be conveyed. These topics span from literature and advertising to visual arts and new media. A significant part of the course focuses on reflections on the relationship between digital technologies and late modern society.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, the student will have a solid foundation in semiotics and will possess all the basic tools necessary to understand and interpret the typology of new media symbols
