Prerequisites
General knowledge of all studied topics (courses) in the first year of Bachelor´s Degree study (incl. Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Mathematics, Statistice,...)
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
At the end of the course students will be able understand the nature of securities markets and explain activities of "investment banks" on mentioned markets. Students receive knowledge of prices market creation (e.g. stock market prices, yield to maturities, exchange rates,...). Studends will be able to receive and analyze information availaible from public financial markets also.
Syllabus
  • The all course consists 12 classes (incl lectures and seminars). Studied subjects are: 1) Investment banks, commercial banks, and financial markets. 2) Securities - securites which confirms property (stocks, shares, kux(en),...) 3) Securities - debt securities (bonds, bills) 4) Securities - derivatives I (forward and futures) 4) Securities - derivatives II (options, swaps) 6) Stock market price origination 7) Stock market price information - exchange rates (stock prices), stock market indices 8) Investment - yield (return), risk, liquidity, efficient markets, Fractal Market Hypothesis. 9) Investment - technical analysis (basic theories - Dow theorry, Elliot waves,...) 10) Investment - technical analysis (modern theories, intra-day technical analysis) 11) Investment - fundamental analysis (intrinsic value, Net Presen Value) 12) Investment - global-, branch-, and corporate - fundamental analysis. In every lectures is descibed services provided by investment banks in process of issue and trading securities. Seminars: Teacher gives students various topics and selected students will this topics presented in oral and written form. Written seminar work is necessary condition for successful passing of final exam.

Teaching methods
Teaching is provided via lectures and classes (seminars) for full-time students and via lectures for part-time students.
Assessment methods
Written seminar work, final written exam, and final oral exam (follow up final written exam).
