Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and explain the forms of international financial markets, operators acting on the international financial markets, the role of international financial intermediaries, the main financial instruments used in international financial markets. Furthermore, the basic mechanism of functioning of international financial markets, financial instruments valuation principles and bases of international regulation of financial markets.
Syllabus
  • 1. General introduction. Model financial market. Defining subjects of international financial markets. Resolution of national and international markets. Forms of international financial markets. The main financial instruments used in international financial markets. 2nd FX market. The structure of the foreign exchange market. Market maker and a client in the forex market. The mechanism of functioning of the foreign exchange markets. Spot and futures contracts on the foreign exchange market. Methods dimensioning.  3. Currency systems. Exchange rate regimes (fixed rate versus floating exchange rate regimes). Cross rate, the euro. Payment balance. The structure of the balance of payments. Partial and cumulative balance of payment. 4. The international money markets. Characteristics and structure of the international money market. Instruments of the international money market. Market operators in the various instruments of international money market. Europeněžní markets. Euromena. Reference interest rates. 5. International markets debt securities. Segments of the debt markets. Instruments traded on international bond markets. Eurobonds. Innovation in the debt securities markets. 6. International markets for financial derivatives. The structure of the international markets of financial derivatives, their function and significance. Of derivative financial instruments (forwards, swaps, options and futures). Exchange and OTC market futures.

Teaching methods
Teaching takes the form of lectures,seminars and workshops in full-time study and / controlled group consultations in the combined form of study. Minimum mandatory attendance at seminars / workshops in full-time studies is 75%, the controlled group consultations in combined form 50%. Students who fail to meet the mandatory level of participation may be given during the semester additional study obligations (to the extent that should demonstrate academic achievement and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of course).
Assessment methods
Course completion: credit Requirements: 1. prescribed presence. Second submission and presentation of the essay 3. Successful completion of the final written test.
