Course objectives
Subject has classical content focus, in Czech literature represented by prof. K. Engliš and his works, which were released as Finanční věda and Malá finanční věda. It is focused not only on the public finance, but also on the regulation of private sector and combination of those two sectors. It contains an update of classical national economy schemes by modern concepts of governance, public and social policy and effectiveness in public, private, for-profit and not-for-profit sector. Student will be able to see these concepts in the context of economic reality, show their pratical applications and present their economic, social and institutional attributes. The result of this course thus is advanced cumulative knowledge about subjects in market economics, concepts and mechanisms of their interactions and key factors important for their effective management.

  • 1. History of financial theory and policy. Public economics in todays world. Sovereign funds. 2. Teleological concepts of K. Engliš, individualism and solidarism. Economic schemes. 3. Management of public and business sector. Public governance. Corporate governance. 4. Nonprofit organizations and their management. 5. Regulation of private sector. 6. Public administration and its economics. Public private partnership. 7. Theory and policy of public expenditure. Public choice, economic and political market. 8. Tax theory and policy. Sense and forms of taxation in current economic. 9. Social policy.Theory and policy of social insurance. 10. Pension theory and policy. Models and pillars of public and private pensions. 11. Health theory and policy. Models and products of health security, connection of private and public sector. 12. Current situation in Czech republic.Final summary.

Teaching methods
Teaching takes the form / lectures / seminars / workshops / full-time study / group consultations and managed in the form of study. Minimum mandatory attendance at seminars / workshops in full-time studies is 75%, the controlled group consultations in combined form 50%. Students who fail to meet the mandatory level of participation may be given during the semester additional study obligations (to the extent that will demonstrate academic achievement and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of course).
Assessment methods
Credit awarded based on written test (usually 12 checkbox/filling questions, 60 percent points minimum) and, where appropriate, an oral conversation.
