- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- There is a weaker investment environment in the Czech Republic that would motivate to start and finance new startup projects, but it does exist partial support of start-up projects through the state agency CzechInvest in the form of incubation and acceleration programs.
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the concept of startup, the course of its establishment, management and forms of financing. - Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- identify and summarize important features of the startup environment in the Czech Republic and abroad,
- identify and describe startup, its difference from conventional enterprises, the importance of competitiveness for its success,
- describe internal and external factors that influence startup success, affect customers to buy the product,
- distinguish between forms of startup financing,
- to design a startup project. - Syllabus
- 1. National start-up and spin-off environment in comparison with the environment to support startups abroad.
- 2. Startups in individual business sectors, strategic competitive advantage.
- 3. First steps and input analyzes to make a decision to create a start-up project.
- 4. Key questions of expected business - industry, product, price, distribution, communication.
- 5. The importance of planning and plan structure for the creation of a startup project.
- 6. Current market situation, market analysis, PPO of customers in different sectors.
- 7. Customer how to identify him, how to reach and influence him. 8. Economic efficiency of expected business.
- 9. Possibilities and forms of startup financing, communication with a potential investor.
- 10. Human resources management, forms of cooperation with employees, DPP, etc.
- 11. Project risk management.
- 12. Presentation, visibility of the intended project.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures will usually contain a lecture part (theory, new knowledge including practical examples) and a practical part (a case study from a real startup environment). Part of the lessons can be to find examples of good practice, discussion on the topic, group work, etc. It will include assignments for home preparation for the following lessons. Teaching will be practically focused on gaining knowledge about the real startup environment using their own judgments, based on economic and critical thinking focused on entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship, creativity, creativity, ability to present and communicate, active approach to the world, open access to new forms of management. Emphasis will be on non-exact thinking based on proven qualitative and quantitative data, on the ability to work with information, with trendy information and presentation systems. Creating a startup project will be presented on a scientific basis as a sequence of interconnected projects and processes Combined studies will be conducted in the form of controlled consultations, where, in addition to the presentation of individual topics, discussions will be based on real case studies.

- The course is completed with a Credits (3 credits). Full-time study: The granting of credit is subject to fulfillment of the duty of active attendance min. 75% (ie not only presence, but active participation in the course of teaching, discussions, interaction, argumentation), homework assignments.
