Course objectives
This course aims to familiarize students with the principles and techniques of finance and their various applications, particularly concerning strategic investment decisions and value-based management. Graduates should be able to comprehend and utilize essential financial concepts in various positions of management and specialist responsibility, with a focus on corporate strategy issues.
Syllabus
  • 1. Fundamental concepts of financial management.
  • 2. Securities and their valuation as an application of basic financial concepts; risk and return (bond valuation, CAPM, portfolio theory, stock valuation, financial options).
  • 3. Projects and their valuation (cost of capital, capital budgeting, cash flow estimation, project risk analysis, real options).
  • 4. Corporate valuation and governance (financial planning and forecasting, value-based management).

Teaching methods
Lectures, individual readings, on-line tutorial support.
Assessment methods
Credit will be granted based on active participation in the course, including case study and homework assignments. Terminal grading will be based on a written final exam.
