Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives (in Czech)
Clarification of the terms of linear algebra and their mutual relationships (vector spaces, matrix operations, solutions to the system of linear equations). Presenting the sequence and its limit; function; continuous function and the limit of a function; and elementary functions to the students. Understanding the mathematical operation of a derivative and its main properties; learning to calculate the derivatives of functions; learning the basic theorems in differential calculus.

  • 1. Vectors and vector spaces.
  • 2. Matrix operations.
  • 3. Solutions to the systems of linear algebraic equations.
  • 4. Sequence and its limit.
  • 5. The notion of function and its graph.
  • 6. Elementary function and its properties.
  • 7. Continuous function, limit of a function at a fixed point and involving infinity.
  • 8. Calculation of the limits of functions.
  • 9. The notion of derivative and the derivatives of elementary functions.
  • 10. Derivatives of a product, quotient.
  • 11. Derivatives of composed functions.
  • 12. L’Hôpital’s Rule and its application.

Teaching methods (in Czech)
The subject is delivered in full-time study by 12 lectures of theory and 6 seminars. Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study. The subject is completed by credit test and written examination. The credit test comprises 5 questions. Reaching the result of minimum 6 points out of 10 points is the precondition to gain the credit.
