The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
After study of this course student will be able to present theoretical and practical approaches to the preparation and use of the development strategies and development projects on local, regional and national level. Student will be able to define main development problems of municipalities and regions in Czech Republic and to define main tools of the solutions of these problems.
Syllabus
  • This structure is dedicated to the full-time study, the structure for the part-time study is presented in the methodical papers. Structure of the course: 1,Definition and character of the regional science, definition of the basic terminology. 2, Theory of the region. Regionalization. Typology of the regions. 3, Local and regional development. 4, Concept of the sustainable development, Local agenda 21. 5, Settlement and the development of the settlement structure in CZ. 6, Rural regions, rural development. 7, Urban regions and their actual development tendencies. Aglomeration, metropolis. 8, Peripheral regions and their development. 9, Urbanization. 10,Suburbanization. 11, Microregions. 12, Euroregions.

Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study. Students that aren´t present in the above dedicated number of lectures and seninars will receive and extra obligations with the objectif to show the knowledge of the course.
Assessment methods
The course is completed with a credit. Credit attests the accomplishment of the study obligations. To receive a credit is based on the written test where the students have to receive at least 60% of the points.
