- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- At the end of the course, students will be able to objectively analyze the existing political conflicts and understand their causes, the logic of their escalation and posible solutions in various stages of their development. Students will be able to distinguish the different types of conflicts, characterized different variations of solutions, including their strengths and weaknesses.

- 1. What is a conflict. Current and theoretical knowledge about the nature of conflict. Conflict importance for society.
- 2. Classification of conflicts. Conflict - a dispute or problem solving.
- 3. Conflict and its management. Why conflicts arise. Communication fault - the path to conflict. The causes of communication disorders. Communication channels. Principles of successful communication.
- 4. Alternatives of conflict resolution. Passivity. Delegation. Random selection. Negotiations. Mediation. Violence.
- 5. Ethics of conflict resolution. Ethical and unethical conflict resolution. Ethical solutions of political conflicts.
- 6. Interests and conflicts. Attitudes and interests. Communication strategy in the conflict.
- 7. The role of power and influence in conflict resolution. The actors and their position in the conflict. Power in the political conflict.
- 8. Interests and their classification. Interests and relationships. Objectives and stereotypes of behavior.
- 9. The strategy and tactics of conflict resolution. Preferred variants of behavior. The rules of rational behavior in the conflict.
- 10. Development of conflict and conflict resolution. Development phase of the conflict and its management. Stages of conflict resolution. Preparing for conflict.

- Teaching methods
- Form of training: full-time study - lectures and seminars combined with group discussions on selected topics - the real political conflicts. Combined studies - lectures. The minimum mandatory attendance at seminars in full-time study is 75%, on a guided group consultations in combined studies 50%. Students who fail to meet the mandatory scope of participation may be awarded during the semester of additional study obligations (to an extent which allows demonstrate academic achievement and acquired competencies necessary for the successful completion of a course).).
- Assessment methods
- The course is completed with the exam in the form of a written test containing 40 questions (minimum 60% success rate). Granting credit on a full-time study assumes active participation in a seminar, on a combined study handing selected conflict analysis (range 4 pages).
