The objective of the course is systematic acquisition and mastering of vocabulary, phraseology and terminology in both ordinary and professional language, deeper fixing of grammar structures and writing skills improvement. A key element of the class is development of language skills, giving business and professional presentations and mastering the grammar structure of Czech on the level B1.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- read and comprehend a professional text of the studied course;
- get oriented in terminology of the given course;
- interprete the contents of a professional text;
- process the received information,
- express themselves correctly from the grammatic and orthographic point of view.

Course objectives
The objective of the course is systematic acquisition and mastering of vocabulary, phraseology and terminology in both ordinary and professional language, deeper fixing of grammar structures and writing skills improvement. A key element of the class is development of language skills, giving business and professional presentations and mastering the grammar structure of Czech on the level B2.
Learning outcomes
Students: will get familiar with the professional terminology, mainly of economics, will improve their communication skills and written language, will get better at expressing their thoughts, will enrich their vocabulary, will make sure they express themselves correctly from the grammatical point of view

  • 1 – 3 SUBJECT OF ECONOMICS, TYPES OF ECONOMIC SYSTEMS Professional vocabulary, economic terms, abbreviations, synonyms, antonyms, conjugation of verbs, verb tenses and moods in Czech. 4 – 6 PATTERNS OF MARKET ECONOMIES, SUPPLY, DEMAND, PRICE Declension of words of foreign origin, irregularities in noun declension. 7 – 9 HUMAN NEEDS SATISFACTION, SERVICES, CONSUMPTION Declension of adjectives and pronouns, numerals - cardinal, ordinal, generic and multiple, fractions. 10 – 12 CURRENT FEATURES OF CZECH ECONOMY Inflexible parts of speech - adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, particles, interjections. 13 – 15 BUSINESS ECONOMICS Word formation in Czech, derivation, composition, compounds, common nouns and proper nouns. 16 - 18 MARKETING, ADVERTISING, PROMOTION Written texts, Czech spelling basics, writing i/y, mě/mně, rules for using capital letters. 19-21 MANAGEMENT, ROLE OF MANAGER Syntax, types of questions, types of sentences. 22 - 24 NATIONAL ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE Verb phrases, collocations. 25 - 27 BUSINESS CYCLE Conditional sentences in present and past. 28-30 PRINCIPLES OF SPEECH COMMUNICATION, RHETORIC, PRESENTATIONS. The minimum success level is reaching 70 points out of 100 points.The student is entitled to one regular attempt and he/she can do two resits to pass the test. b) oral part: After a short preparation the student proves his/her ability to express themselves on any given topic. The student is entitled to one regular attempt and he/she can do two resits to pass the oral exam.

Course objectives
The objective of the course is systematic acquisition and mastering of vocabulary, phraseology and terminology in both ordinary and professional language, deeper fixing of grammar structures and writing skills improvement. A key element of the class is development of language skills, giving business and professional presentations and mastering the grammar structure of Czech on the level B2.

  • 1 – 3 SUBJECT OF ECONOMICS, TYPES OF ECONOMIC SYSTEMS Professional vocabulary, economic terms, abbreviations, synonyms, antonyms, conjugation of verbs, verb tenses and moods in Czech. 4 – 6 PATTERNS OF MARKET ECONOMIES, SUPPLY, DEMAND, PRICE Declension of words of foreign origin, irregularities in noun declension. 7 – 9 HUMAN NEEDS SATISFACTION, SERVICES, CONSUMPTION Declension of adjectives and pronouns, numerals - cardinal, ordinal, generic and multiple, fractions. 10 – 12 CURRENT FEATURES OF CZECH ECONOMY Inflexible parts of speech - adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, particles, interjections. 13 – 15 BUSINESS ECONOMICS Word formation in Czech, derivation, composition, compounds, common nouns and proper nouns. 16 - 18 MARKETING, ADVERTISING, PROMOTION Written texts, Czech spelling basics, writing i/y, mě/mně, rules for using capital letters. 19-21 MANAGEMENT, ROLE OF MANAGER Syntax, types of questions, types of sentences. 22 - 24 NATIONAL ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE Verb phrases, collocations. 25 - 27 BUSINESS CYCLE Conditional sentences in present and past. 28-30 PRINCIPLES OF SPEECH COMMUNICATION, RHETORIC, PRESENTATIONS. Speaking skills, rules of correct pronunciation, stress, sentence stress, intonation, rate of speech. 31 - 33 PRESENTATIONS (FREE TOPIC), Revision. 34 - 36 ORAL AND WRITTEN EXAMINATION

Assessment methods
1 OBLIGATORY PARTICIPATION.The extent of obligatory participation in seminars/tutorials has been stipulated as follows: 75% applies to full-time students, 50% to part-time students. 2 PRESENTATION 3 EXAMINATION a) written part: The student will have to pass a written test at the end of the course. The minimum success level is reaching 70 points out of 100 points.The student is entitled to one regular attempt and he/she can do two resits to pass the test. b) oral part: After a short preparation the student proves his/her ability to express themselves on any given topic. The student is entitled to one regular attempt and he/she can do two resits to pass the oral exam.

Teaching methods
Seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study. Students who were not able to attend the seminars in the required percentage could be asked to work out additional tasks in the extent sufficiently proving their compentences necessary for successful completion of the subject.

Cíl předmětu: pokračování v systematickém prohlubování znalostí češtiny, postupné zvládnutí gramatického systému češtiny, nácvik mluveného projevu, příprava prezentací na odborná témata, zdokonalení psaných projevů.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1-3 PŘEDMĚT EKONOMIE, TYPY EKONOMICKÝCH SYSTÉMŮ. Odborná slovní zásoba, ekonomické termíny, zkratky, časování sloves, slovesné časy a způsoby v češtině. 4-6 ZÁKONITOSTI TRŽNÍ EKONOMIKY, NABÍDKA, POPTÁVKA, CENA. Skloňování slov cizího původu, nepravidelnosti ve skloňování podstatných jmen. 7-9 LIDSKÉ POTŘEBY A JEJICH USPOKOJOVÁNÍ, SLUŽBY, SPOTŘEBA. Skloňování přídavných jmen a zájmen, číslovky základní, řadové, druhové a násobné, zlomky. 10-12 CHARAKTERISTIKA SOUČASNÉ ČESKÉ EKONOMIKY. Neohebné slovní druhy – příslovce, předložky, spojky, částice, citoslovce. 13-15 EKONOMIKA PODNIKU. Tvoření slov v češtině, odvozování, skládání, složeniny, jména obecná a vlastní. 16-18 MARKETING, REKLAMA, PROPAGACE. Psané texty, základy českého pravopisu, psaní i/y, skupiny mě/mně, velká písmena. 19-21 MANAGEMENT, ROLE MANAGERA. Větná skladba, druhy otázek, typy souvětí. 22-24 VÝKONNOST NÁRODNÍHO HOSPODÁŘSTVÍ. Slovesné vazby. 25-27 HOSPODÁŘSKÝ CYKLUS. Podmínkové věty v současnosti i v minulosti. 28-30 ZÁSADY MLUVENÉHO PROJEVU, RÉTORIKA, PREZENTACE. Výuka probíhá v prezenční i kombinované formě studia formou cvičení. Rozsah povinné účasti ve výuce je 75 %.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
1. POVINNÁ ÚČAST VE VÝUCE Na cvičeních je její rozsah v prezenčním studiu stanoven minimálně na 75%, na řízených skupinových konzultacích na 50%. 2. ZÁPOČTOVÝ TEST (CREDIT TEST) Podmínkou pro udělení zápočtu je dosažení alespoň 60 bodů ze 100. 3. V případě nedostatečné docházky mezi 40 a 75% (PS), resp. mezi 4 – 6 vyuč.hodinami na KS se v hodnocení v IS zapíše „-“ a student automaticky ztrácí jeden pokus složit test. V případě účasti pod 40% (včetně)na PS, resp. nedosahující 4 vyuč.hodin u KS se v hodnocení v IS zapíše „NNN“ (tj. nezapočteno). V takovém případě si student bude muset nesplněný předmět převést do následujícího semestru/studijního roku a po zakoupení potřebných kreditů bude mít opět tři možnosti k zakončení předmětu (tj. napsání testu).
