- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- One of the core subjects of the field of study. Follows up and further develops knowledge from previous courses such as Regional Development and Regional Policy 1, Socio-economic and administrative geography, Regional analysis and GIS, Management of municipalities, cities and regions, Regional and municipal economics, etc. The course focuses on the system of regional development and regional policy of the European knowledge of the processes taking place in regional development within the EU. The course also deals with EU structural and investment funds, EU regional policy instruments and analyzes them in detail. The student will gain knowledge of the functioning of EU regional policy in detail. At the same time, he will be ready to actively participate in the formulation and conception and strategy of regional policy and the implementation of regional development support programs.
- Learning outcomes
- The course focuses on the system of regional development and regional policy of the European Union. Furthermore, the course deals with the objectives, tools and operational programs of regional policy of the European Union and analyzes them in detail. At the same time, the student will be ready to actively participate in the analyzes necessary for the regional policy of the European Union. You will gain selected important skills in the field of regional development and regional policy of the European Union. In particular, you will gain skills in applying the legislative and institutional instruments of the European Union's regional policy. The ability to use selected tools of an economic nature will be a significant skill. You will be able to make qualified use of the acquired skills in creating projects and programs for drawing from Eurofunds.
- Syllabus
- Introduction to the subject, requirements for its completion. 1. Regional policy in the European Union: introduction, meaning. 2. The position of regional policy within the overall EU policy; cohesion policy. 3. Development of regional policy in the European Union. 4. Objectives of European Union regional policy. 5. Principles of regional policy of the European Union. 6. European Structural and Investment Funds, Structural Funds, European Regional Development Fund, European Social European Social Fund Plus. 7. European structural and investment funds. New funds valid from 2021. 8. Horizontal topics, program documents. Operational programs. 9. Regional and structural and cohesion policy in the EU in the period 2007-2013. Regional and structural and cohesion policies in the EU 2014-2020: evaluation and lessons learned. 10. Institutions and legislation of regional policy in the European Union. 11. Preparation of the programming period 2021-2027, the future of EU cohesion and regional policy. Why new funds. 12. Legislation for the programming period 2021-2027.
- Teaching methods
- Teaching takes place in the form of lectures and seminars in the full-time form of study and in the form of guided group consultations in the combined form of study. In the combined form of study, the subject is taught by distance learning. Extent of compulsory participation in teaching: The minimum compulsory participation in the seminar in the full-time form of study is 75%, in guided group consultations in the combined form of study 50%. Students who do not meet the mandatory scope of participation may be assigned additional study obligations during the semester (to the extent that will allow to prove study results and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of the course).
