- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide students with basic concepts and institutes of international trade law, which will orient them in the levels of the legal relations, i.e. between States (international organizations) to each other, between States and private individuals (traders) and between traders with each other The legal regulation of these relationships is based on several areas of sources – public international law (and its subregion of the international economic law), the law of the European Union and national (national) laws of individual States. The main focus of the course is aimed at the WTO law and the agreements adopted wirhin its framework - GATT, GATS) and TRIPS, as well as the systém of settlement of disputes between States in the case of violation of the WTO agreements. Subsequently to the WTO law the course deals with the Common commercial policy of the EU and the autonomous measures of the EU in international trade
- Learning outcomes
- After passing the course the student will be able to: - identify and summarize important features of the main areas of international trade transactions; - identify and describe the main domestic and foreign sources, their mutual relationship and preferences; - apply the principial legal rules to practical problems emerging in relations between traders; - compare and define differences in the types of regulation of international trade transactions

- 1: international private law and international trade - levels of regulation 2: international commercial transactions 3: World Trade Organization (WTO) - institutions, membership, treatment of developing countries 4: GATT - structure of the Agreement, MFN and principle of national treatment 5. GATS - legal rules of WTO for trade in services - modes of supply, general and specific obligation of states, National Schedules 6. TRIPS - Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, material rules and rules for the enforcement 7. Dispute resolution system for states under the WTO rules 8. Convention on the International Purchase of Goods (CISG) - foundations for the regulation and obligations of states to fulfil them 9.Lex mercatoria - concept and meaning for international trade, INCOTERMS - content and application 10 European private law - EU and single internal market - the importance of unification and harmonisation of private law 11. Europeisation of the commercial law of EU Member States and European contract law 12. Principles of European Contract Law (PECL) – Selected rules and how they are applied

- Course ends with a written exam test. Successful completion of the test, shall be subject to the right by answering questions from at least 60% a total of 30 closed questions, type 1 of n or m of n
