Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Explain the position of commercial law in the Czech legal order, its relationship to the civil law and other branches of law. Sources and trends in commercial law, its internal systematics, basic principles and institutions. Interpretation of the main areas of commercial law issues.
Syllabus
  • First Definition and sources of business law. Second Basic concepts - business, businessman, business, assets, property, company. Third Trading companies - general interpretation. 4th Public company. Limited partnership. 5th Company with limited liability. 6th The joint-stock company. 7th Cooperatives and other entities of commercial law. 8th Commercial Register and the issue of competition. 9th Commercial obligations - general provisions on obligations. 10th The position of the lender and the borrower. 11th Reinsurance liabilities and their transfer and transition. 12th Commercial contract types - basic overview.

Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study. Students who do not fulfil the compulsory attendance may be assigned additional study tasks throughout the term (in an extent that will prove study results and acquired competencies necessary for successful completion of the course)
Assessment methods
Exam written test (or oral examination). Successful completion of the course is conditional on answering correctly at least 60% of the questions written test.
