Course objectives
At the end of this course a student is familiarized in detail with the way and extent of environmental protection as a specific public good. A student is able to identify the individual components of the environment which are legally protected, as well as their sources of pollution against which the protection is primarily directed. He is competent to explain how the environmental protection is organized administratively and what forms of responsibility are applied for its purposes. He is able to explore closer the issues of environment and its protection by analytical and comparative way.

  • 1.Environmental law – subject matter, system, history. 2. Foundations and principles of environmental protection. 3. Environmental protection organization. 4. Legal responsibility in protecting the environment. 5. International environmental law. 6. Environmental protection in the European Union norm-creation. 7. Means of environmental protection. 8. Protection of water, soil and air. 9. Protection of forest, nature, landscape and biosystems. 10. Sources of pollution and their legal regimentation. 11. Environmental legislation in the context of other human activities. 12. National and European ecological policy.

Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars in full-time study; tutorials in part-time study; compulsory seminar participation is 75% in full-time study, compulsory tutorial participation is 50% in part-time study.
Assessment methods
The course is completed by a credit and examination. The credit has the form of the test with open questions, the examination is oral. Topics for the examination are placed in the teaching materials of IS.
